La prótesis de complementación tiene dos maneras fundamentales de fijarse. La primera son los ataches que se ubican junto a los lados de los dientes que se conservan y que junto con la prótesis de complementación reemplazan los dientes perdidos, otorgando mayor firmeza que la prótesis convencional. Por otra parte, están las prótesis que se fijan a implantes dentales, este método se suele practicar cuando el paciente ha desalojado todos sus dientes de la arcada ya sea superior inferior, esta consiste en realizar dos o tres implantes dentales en la zona inferior y mínimo 4 implantes dentales en la zona superior a los cuales irá incrustada la prótesis de complementación.
